Voting on the American Eagle/TWU Dispatcher proposed contract will begin next week. The polls will open at 12:01 AM CT on Monday, October 15, 2012. Polls will close at 2:00 p.m. CT on Friday, October 26, 2012. Ballots will be mailed out early next week, and full text and voting information will be available for your review on www.twubkfacts.org before voting begins.

In light of the voting schedule for the Dispatcher work group, we have decided to extend the voting timeline for the AMT & Related work group by one week. The polls will now be open until 2:00 p.m. CT on Friday, October 26.

American Eagle Bankuptcy

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

As you know by now, after several months of difficult negotiations, the TWU has reached tentative agreements for the Maintenance & Related, Ground School Instructor, and Dispatcher work groups at American Eagle.

The trial on American Eagle’s 1113 motion to reject these three contracts was scheduled to begin on October 23, 2012. Today, TWU and American Eagle bankruptcy attorneys filed a notice of adjournment in bankruptcy court agreeing to postpone the hearing. Because we reached our last TA just this week, the hearing was only postponed to avoid having the voting process interrupted by trial preparation and the trial.

Summary of Motion to Approve MOU

The Debtors filed a motion seeking to approve the memoranda of understanding among certain of the Debtors,  US Airways, Inc. and any successor (“US Airways”) and the various unions representing the employees of the Debtors and US Airways.  The memoranda of understanding address the effect of the expected merger between American and U.S.  Airways.  With regard to the TWU, the memorandum of understanding (the “MOU”) provides as follows:

i. New CBA Modifications. Upon the effective date of the merger, the terms and conditions of the new collective bargaining agreements of the seven TWU-represented workgroups that were previously approved by the Bankruptcy Court on June 28, 2012 and September 12, 2012, respectively, will continue to remain in full force and effect, except that:

(NYSE: LCC). The merger of American Airlines and US Airways was announced today.
